As pet ownership continues to rise, so does the need for pet-related products. The American Pet Products Association's 2009-2010 National Pet Owners Survey showed that there was unprecedented growth in the number and types of products available for pets. Furthermore, there has been a trend of human products crossing over to the pet market. Designer pet products ranging from bowls to carriers to shampoo have become increasingly popular.
In such a tight economy, advertisers are looking to get the most bang for their buck. This survey's extremely comprehensive consumer research provides insight on demographics, buying habits, and other traits of American pet owners, which enables companies to advertise and market more strategically than ever before.
The 2009-2010 survey is packed full of new information, some of which is quite interesting. For example, did you know that 7% of pet owners have made financial provisions for pets in their will, or more than one-third of these same owners have named a caretaker/guardian for their pet? Some people say that they would attend to their pet's health before their own - 15% of dog owners and 13% of cat owners, to be exact.
The complete 2009-2010 National Pet Owners survey includes more than 500 pages of trended information on pets over the past 20 years and is full of detailed information on just about anything that has to do with pets. It is available for purchase at www.americanpetproducts.org.
