Fittingly enough, “man’s best friend” is this year’s National Dog Week theme. Now in it’s 74th year, this week devoted to our four-legged family members runs September 22-28.
Back in 1928 Captain Will Judy, a renowned dog judge and publisher of Dog World Magazine, founded National Dog Week to educate dog owners in their responsibilities to their pets, as well as recognize organizations that care for unwanted or lost dogs.
So this year, take some time to celebrate with your best friend, but also help other dogs in need. It would be a great week to donate to a local animal shelter, or maybe drop something off on their wish list.
Dogs give us everything they have all the time, so this week, why not make an extra effort to return the favor? But either way, they’ll go on loving us as much as ever.
